CA is looking for a talented Sr. Principal Architect who will be working with a team of highly skilled and experienced architects (“core architects”) across the business unit to advocate, support, and design leading-edge components and applications utilizing machine learning and prediction. Candidate will work closely with customers, product management and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are adequately understood. The architect will then work with engineering teams through the design, development and ultimately through delivery of products. The Architect is responsible for driving technical innovation not only in implementation, but also in design and development methodologies, and to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
The successful candidate works with customer leadership, product and development management to identify the vision and priorities that lead to the creation of short/medium/long-term strategies that will serve as the roadmaps for the product line. Equally important, they also work with the other Architects across the organization to provide leadership for cross-BU product and solution initiatives, to maximize the use and delivery of common components, development and test frameworks to unify the product development efforts across the business unit. They champion the design, implementation and delivery of highly performant, highly reliable products that exceed the reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) requirements in the industry. They utilize Agile techniques and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to minimize time to market while maximizing continuous customer feedback and interaction during the development process.
The applicant must be a "student of technologies" and exhibit critical leadership traits to be successful in this role. Prior experience providing architecture, development and engineering oversight of large and scalable products and services is a must. The Architect will be called upon for guidance, management, mentoring, and advocacy. This means:
Ensuring that the strategy and vision of an Architecture as it related to the business objectives is understood by the customer, development, support teams, as well as teams in other business units.
Staying current with the progress towards organizational goals and objectives and assisting Business Line and BU management with necessary adjustments as conditions require.
Building and improving the engineering teams through cultivating the skills of the current staff, ensuring the workforce today is developing/adopting the skills to remain the premier workforce of tomorrow.
Advocating for and articulating technology initiatives throughout the organization and supporting stakeholders.
Responsible for re-evaluating current and establishing new standards, policies, protocols, procedures and best practices to support a best of breed development team.
Arranging and leading architectural and design discussions as they pertain to business unit initiatives.
The Architect participates in establishing and directing the execution of long-term strategy and vision of the development teams. Specifically, you'll be responsible to:
Leading and developing the architectural effort around a spectrum of analytics tools and components for the next generation of machine learning intelligence enabled applications.
Keep up-to-date with the latest innovations in technology - from new platforms, software and services to cutting edge tools, cloud service offerings, technologies from other parts of the company and ensuring your peer architects, development management and customer leadership are kept abreast for areas and innovations that can improve efficiency, value and ROI for the for the customer and the Mainframe BU.
Work closely with product strategy and customer leadership in managing product priorities, helping construct road maps for achieving long-term goals
Leading the execution of the Mainframe BU technology strategy, communicating that strategy with customers and other business units
Providing analysis and design and development planning of products, solutions and assisting with QA design and oversight of technical value, customer ROI, project schedule and risk management.
Performing Architectural reviews as a tool for maintaining first class engineering practices, consistency of approach, leveraging of code reuse and advancing the use of the most efficacious architectural patterns and application of architectural principles.
Knowledge of modern architectural patterns such as micro services, API and service management, Containers and virtualization.
Deep Knowledge of machine learning models and their application
Deep knowledge of data structures and their application
Deep Knowledge of modeling systems and solutions; systems thinking
Knowledge of common architectural design patterns such as visitor, command, factory, etc.
Knowledge of designing secure applications.
Ability to define and innovate building codes and architectural documents
Engineering and programming
Accomplished software engineer with coverage on modern languages such as Java.
Strong Knowledge of machine learning languages such as R and Python
Strong background and experience with machine learning techniques
Well-versed with data science fundamentals. Ability to interact closely with data scientists on the team and ensure that models address requirements properly.
Knowledge of mainframe z/OS ecosystem including knowledge of elements and features, internals and debugging a plus.
Knowledge of the architecture of LE/C, assembler and Metal C a plus.
Knowledge of working in an agile environment, typical agile frameworks, knowledge of SAFe a plus.
Ability to engage and Collaborate in constructive and respectful debate to achieve objectives
