CA Technologies, a growing Fortune 1000 company, is seeking an Assistant Teacher for one of our company-sponsored Montessori schools. This position is responsible to assist the Lead Teacher and Teachers in a Montessori environment with children ages six weeks through kindergarten. This position is an hourly position and generally works up to a maximum of 25 hours per week covering lunch breaks and floating as necessary to classrooms to maintain ratios. Hours may change depending upon the children's attendance. The Assistant Teacher is a support for and is guided by the Lead Teacher and Teacher. Assistant Teacher will not be left alone with the children.

  • About the Role:*

As an Assistant Teacher at our Montessori Children’s Center, you will responsible for:

  • Attain state mandated training hours utilizing your own time as necessary and follow all laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with other classrooms to maintain ratios and support each other to effectively manage you time and your classroom.

  • Maintain the room so that it is safe, orderly, clean, appealing and facilitative of the children’s growth, exploration and participation.

  • Show respect for the individuality of each child in terms of developmental level, potential, talent and behavior of that child.

  • Observe the child and interpret the child's needs.

  • Provide an atmosphere of freedom within limits.

  • Maintain realistic expectations for each child and allow for human variation.

  • Set a good example by modeling desirable behavior for the children. Follow the expectations of the class and exhibit a sense of calm, provide consistency, grace and courtesy lessons, conflict resolution while demonstrating respect for every child.

  • Understand and embrace the importance of the parent-teacher costumer relationship and is sensitive and responsive to the parent/customer needs.

  • Do not discriminate against (or for) a child based on race, creed, color, religion or ability.

  • Maintain confidential matters in a professional way.

  • Flexible with hours to be worked.

  • Focus on working as a team with the all teachers in the classroom and center. Show respect for and working closely with and taking directions from colleagues to ensure a positive CA experience.

  • Assist in planning organized activities, individual, and group for times the lead teacher is out of the room.

  • Uphold the NAEYC Ethics, AMI Ethics and each state local licensing regulations and core values of both CA and NAEYC.

She/he will have an outstanding track record and reputation for being proactive, assertive and detail oriented. An ideal background will include:

  • Associate's Degree and currently attending school to attain a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent with 12 credits in Early Childhood Education in a related field or a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate is required.

  • Typically requires experience working with young children. Relevant teaching experience.

  • Patience, Flexibility, Good Communication and Listening Skills.

  • Physical demands:*

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds (22.5Kg)

  • Must be able to run after children.

  • Must be able to sit on the floor with the children for long periods of time.
